It was only 36 years ago that Napier man, Bill McGowan, saw a need for a locally owned and operated courier company to provide friendly and reliable courier services to the Hawke’s Bay region. With a passion for freight and logistics and a ‘delight the customer at the door’ mentality, the Fastway Couriers brand was born.
Over time we grew to become a nationwide network boasting over 250 Courier Franchisees. Our success gained the attention of Aramex, a leading global provider of comprehensive logistics and transportation solutions, which recognised both the potential of the Fastway system and New Zealand as a developing market.
We joined the Aramex family in 2016 and began working behind the scenes to prepare for the next phase of our evolution. We wanted to retain our unique franchise business model while gaining a global mindset with access to new innovations, new technologies and new shipping destinations.
In 2019, the explosion in e-commerce and the significant rise in parcel movements across the globe led us to take the decision to officially rebrand, taking a major step forward for local franchise operators and the many New Zealand businesses that either export products to the world or import to New Zealand.
Since joining Aramex, our local teams and knowledge have remained, whilst new opportunities to tap into Aramex’s leading technology, systems and innovation continue to arise.
Aramex New Zealand will still have the same locally owned and operated Regional Franchisees and friendly couriers but will now able to offer global opportunities.
Most importantly, we’ve retained our teams and knowledge and will continue to focus on what’s important to our customers – no matter where they are.
